Celiac Plexus Block

A celiac plexus block is an injection of local anesthesia around a group of nerves and nerve cells, named the celiac plexus, that innervate and carry away pain impulses for such important organs like pancreas, liver and gallbladder. The actual injection takes from 10 to 30 minutes and the injected anesthetic blocks nerve communication from the gut or abdominal organs to the spinal cord and brain.
